Doreen Kostelac

Doreen’s “World Vision”

Meet Doreen Kostelac, real estate agent and life changer.

Platinum Realty agents are passionate people. Passion is something that can grow over time, alongside knowledge and experience, or it can be an immediate undeniable drive. For Doreen Kostelac, her passion is also her soft spot – children.

Professionally, Doreen helps families find their new homes. Personally, she is an advocate for improving children’s futures who currently live in severe poverty. Her tireless work and child sponsorship through World Vision not only puts roofs over children’s heads, but also supports entire communities in becoming self-sustaining.

A Pamphlet on a Chair Changed Doreen Kostelac’s Life

Doreen has always had a soft spot for children. She volunteered her time for many years at Spofford Home, working with emotionally troubled children. Yet, she always felt drawn to the plight of those living in severe poverty, especially in Africa. The right opportunity came along when she attended Joel Olsteen’s “Night of Hope.” A World Vision pamphlet on her seat at the conference changed her life, as well as the lives of two children in Zimbabwe, named Blesses and Tshifhiwa.

As a real estate agent, Doreen knows you can’t sell something if you’re not truly passionate about it. Just 24 hours after reading Tshifhiwa’s profile in the pamphlet and researching World Vision, she knew this was the child she was to sponsor and this was the cause to stand behind. Doreen became a World Vision Child Ambassador, attending the organization’s national conference in Seattle last year and promoting monthly child sponsorship at public events.

Sponsors are encouraged to visit their child and see firsthand how World Vision changes lives. Meeting Tshifhiwa and Blesses face to face is at the top of Doreen’s bucket list. She is working on that dream by getting her friends and colleagues to vote for her via DreamJobbing, an organization devoted to helping Christian humanitarians solve the problem of poverty. Good luck, Doreen!
